Week 2 TOW by Tashe Graves

Tashe’s Blog

February 10, 2010

I listened to the same clip. I also felt really surprised that many professionals make mistakes on different messages or documents. Listening to her clip made me realize that reading out loud is probably the best way to have an error free document. I rarely do this but I guess now is the best time to start!

AP Style Bootcamp :: Flagging your AP Stylebook by Barbara Nixon

Public Relations Matters

February 3, 2010

Watching AP Style Bootcamp was very helpful. Since I have been at Georgia Southern I have always had an AP Manual but I have very rarely picked it up to help in my papers or assignments. In the video the five basic areas were pointed out. There are things in the AP Style book that I never realized were in the book like the information on how to write out numbers and numerals. Now that I have the sections in my book flagged off it will make it easier to access and find the information and help that I am looking for. The AP Manual has always been a little complicated but now after watching this video it will be easier for me to understand and actually utilize my book.

Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang by Carrie Beth Abramson

Exploring the World of Blogging

April 27, 2010

I think Chelsea Handler is hilarious.  I’ve watched Chelsea Lately a couple times with my sister and each time I watch her there is always some type of humor to the things she says.  She has a great sense of sarcasm and confidence.  I did not realize that she has written any books though.  I too agree that other celebrities can be mechanical when promoting things.  I’ve noticed too that many people just repeat the same lines over and over.  I am sure Chelsea Handler’s books are just as funny as her show and her appearances on other television shows.

PR Documentary by Haley Barnes

Haley Barne’s Blog PR Writing and random thoughts by me

April 27, 2010

SPINdustry looks really interesting!  I saw previews for the show a little while back but I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to actually watch the show.  From previews of the show I can tell that the industry is really cut throat.  With all the success that Kim Kardashian has had with her shows and career I’m sure that having her as the executive producer the show will receive just as much attention.  It is interesting to see all the different aspects of PR and how much work goes into each event.  PR professionals truly have to consider each move and word they say.

10 Pieces Every Woman Should Own by Kristina Bundy

The Road Less Traveled

April 27, 2010

I am a connoisseur of clothing and I always think I come across a list of “must haves” for my closet.  I find that the majority of the times I have many of the items that the list may name.  As for this list I too have the majority of the items but I think that these items are great for a person who is trying to look professional and trying to get into the business industry.  The only thing I would maybe add to this is a pencil skirt and cardigans.  I find that a simple cardigan can usually dress something up or down in a nice way.

PR Connection 10: Cheaters Cheaters Pumpkin Eaters by Jessica Dudley

Jessica’s Blog

It is disturbing to see how many husbands have cheated on their wives this year.  I followed many of these stories on TV and I never could understand how someone could have such a great wife and family and still not be able to focus on what is most important.  Jesse and Tiger getting admitted into rehab was no surprise.  Although all the bad news was suppose to hurt Tiger it seems to not have damaged him as much as people speculated.  Jon Gosselin on the other hand does need some PR help.  I turned on the news the other day and heard something about him wanting to get back with Kate to continue the show.  I guess he still wants 15 more minutes.

Tiger Wood’s Controversy Commercial by Brigitte Gausche

Brigitte Gausche

April 27, 2010

There was a lot of controversy over this commercial that Tiger Woods did with the voice  of his father Earl Woods.  I think that it is memorable to have a commercial with your father especially if he has passed but I felt that under the circumstances I think Tiger should have went about it a different way.  The commercial has created a lot of media attention for Tiger but there is no telling what it will do for his marriage and family.  His wife Elin was not too happy with this commercial and does this truly mean that Tiger is sorry for what he has done?

Will Work For Education? by Erica Campbell

J’aime des relations publiques

April 27,2010

I too think that this is a very interesting topic.  As I get further into my courses I know eventually I might have to consider an internship.  Of course everyone would love to be able to get a paying internship but asking around and chatting with friends I find that the majority of the time internships don’t really offer much or anything at all.  All this news can be very discouraging because it seems that now more than ever it is important to have some type of income.  It can be very discouraging to hear but getting an internship and having that experience is a great sacrifice for the future.

PR has Kate Gosselin a media star by Anna Glisson

Anna’s Blogging Adventure

April 27, 2010

I agree there is so much hype and attention that is focused on Kate Gosselin.  I thought it was crazy that she was going to be on Dancing with the Stars.  It amazed me that she could even find the time to learn a dance routine around the eight kids that she has.  I stopped watching the show after the couple separated because the focus turned more on the couples’ problems instead of them actually raising their children together.  I feel that all this publicity that the Kate and Jon receive now can’t be great for the children.  Although Kate shows herself as confident and put together there seems to always be some type of problem between her and Jon.

Batter Blaster Advertisements #11 by Wynn Kennedy

More than Just a Blog by Wynn Kennedy

April 27, 2010

I’ve heard about the Batter Blaster product from my classes as well running into it on the Wal-Mart aisles.  I’ve been hesitant about the product not knowing if it was even worth trying but watching the commercial made me want to go to Wal-Mart and try out some pancakes for dinner.  I live by myself so a product like this would be ideal for me when I want a quick and fulfilling breakfast in the morning.  If the product adds colors I think kids would really be bouncing off the walls.  It sounds just as good as purple ketchup! YUM!

I need a break by Sarah Gricius

SARAHGRICIUS’S BLOG

April 27, 2010

I definitely know how you feel.  I am really looking forward to a break.  This semester has been a very challenging for me in many different ways.  I still have a couple more semesters to go before I graduate but it seems that the closer you get the quicker time flies.  This semester has been one of the quickest semesters I have had while I have been at Georgia Southern.  I’ve been feeling like I needed to catch my breath but I haven’t had a chance to do that at all.  I am really excited that all this will be over soon.  Hope your summer turns out great!
